Last Saturday I had a "retreat" with my Chamber Choir. We have a performance in a week, so we got together to work on some music and get a head start on rehearsals. We also played games--some just for fun and some for team-building, and set some goals, etc.
I've realized in my time as a high school teacher, that no matter how hard you try to get the students to take things seriously, sometimes it's all fruitless. Here is an example. :)
Each section was assigned to set at least 3 goals for their section to work toward in the coming semester. Here is what the tenors came up with: (p.s. don't be offended!)
The Tenor Theme
We are Tenors of Miss Thorne who loves us, and we love her. We will assist the 2nd altos at all times, and in all notes, and in all places as we strive to live the tenor values, which are: loud, divine voices, respect to the teacher, awesomeness, bring the basses to the dark side, good singing, and keeping Jordan in line. We believe as we set Miss Thorne up on a date, we will be prepared to strengthen Show and Chamber, make and keep secret harmonies, and receive a superior rating at state.
